Exhibition at Hartenfels Castle
Elector John Frederick the Magnanimous and his wife personally guide visitors through the world-changing history of Hartenfels Palace in a lavishly digitally animated one-hour tour.
The family-friendly adventure exhibition invites you to immerse yourself in the building history of the palace and the electoral apartments, as well as everyday life at court and in the women's room, in an entertaining multimedia experience.
A highlight is the view from the electoral gallery into the palace church. The first new Protestant church building was consecrated by Martin Luther himself and was therefore proposed for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The role of Torgau as a center of power during the Reformation is another focal point and presents Johann Friedrich as a political heavyweight - until his defeat at Mühlberg in 1547 and the associated consequences for the country and the castle.
A separate room on "Fortress Torgau" also illustrates the military use of the castle in the early 19th century. Visitors can experience this acoustically for themselves with the help of a gigantic cannon ball track...
