Palais Zabeltitz

The baroque Zabeltitz Palace, popularly known as the "Palais", is a converted residential palace.
In its present form, the Palaise originated from a residential palace that was rebuilt several times during the Renaissance period, on the site of which a moated castle originally stood to protect the old salt road. After 1728, master builder J.C. Knöffel carried out extensive renovations on behalf of the Imperial Count von Wackerbarth, whose coat of arms can also be seen on the park side of the building. As the Palaise became too small at the time, the Old Palace was built in 1588. Today there is a café in the Palaise and the numerous rooms are used for cultural events and celebrations.
