The newly signposted circular hiking trail connects the castle and park grounds of Zabeltitz with the pond landscape of the Röderaue and is one of the selected 12 favorite hikes Dresden Elbland.

The approx. 16 km long, flat and easily walkable circular route connects the castle, palace and Baroque Garden of Zabeltitz with the water and lake landscape of the Röderaue and passes through a charming landscape alternating between forest and open fields and meadows.

The route optionally starts at parking lot 2 of the Baroque Garden Zabeltitz or in Frauenhain at the castle pond. It leads through forests with old trees, open land, pastures, fields, ponds, and watercourses, connecting two cultural landscapes of the Meißen district, the Röderaue and the Großenhainer Pflege.

The cultural highlight of the route is the Baroque Garden Zabeltitz with castle and palace. Magnificent avenues, hedgerows and the pleasure grove invite you to stroll here. Artistic sandstone figures set accents, and the splendor of the park is reflected in the water surfaces of the unique pond system. The palace, built on the site of the former water castle, forms a charming ensemble of Baroque and Renaissance architecture with the "Old Castle." The park is one of the largest and most significant preserved grounds in Saxony designed in the French style. It was created in its present form from 1728 by order of Count Wackerbarth through Johann Christoph Knöffel.

The Zabeltitz Farmers Museum is housed in an old three-sided farmstead built around 1810. With numerous objects from the rural past of the villages around Zabeltitz, it shows the life of a middle-class farming family in the Großenhainer Pflege at the beginning of the 20th century.

The St. George's Church in Zabeltitz is also well worth a visit. It was built in 1580/81 replacing the old wooden church from 1495. The sandstone altar and baptismal font are works by the Dresden sculptor Christian Walther II. Count August Christoph von Wackerbarth is buried in the small village church.

Along the way, you will find numerous other natural and cultural sights, such as the Geißlitz Sheep Bridge, the Zabeltitz weir, the village churches in Görzig and Frauenhain, as well as various pond landscapes and floodplains.
