Cycle route M links Meissen and Moritzburg and offers the opportunity to combine the many sights of the historic towns with a picturesque ride through the countryside.

The route can be started either in Moritzburg or in Meißen. Due to an ascent of approx. 100 meters in Weinböhla, the more relaxed option starting in Moritzburg is recommended. The return journey is possible between April and October on the M bus, depending on bus capacity.

In Moritzburg, the tour starts directly at the castle parking lot, directly opposite the famous baroque castle. The bus stop for line M and the tourist information office are 50 m away. You can enjoy the view of the large pond as you drive around it to the west. The Käthe Kollwitz House is also located directly on the route and invites you to visit the former residence of the famous artist. After a few meters, the route turns into the large forest area, the Friedewald. On signposted cycle paths, the route leads through nature, which was already used by the Saxon electors and kings of the time for relaxation and hunting.

After about 10 km, the King Albert lookout tower is located on the left-hand side, slightly out of the way behind some trees. Built in 1898, this tower is open on Sundays and public holidays from April to October and offers a magnificent view of the surrounding area. Outside of opening hours, you can also get a key from the Weinböhla Tourist Information Office.

In the center of Weinböhla, near the church, is the VELOCIUM, the Saxon bicycle adventure world. A visit to the exhibition is a must for every cycling enthusiast, but it is also suitable for families. Here you can learn about over 200 years of cycling tradition in Weinböhla, as well as modern knowledge. Children and young people can test their own skills on a bike course.

Passing the Nassau sports hall and the DB stop (public transport, bus line M), you leave Weinböhla and reach the floodplains of the Nassau nature reserve via the village of Neusörnewitz. The natural route offers views over the Elbland and then leads into Saxony's smallest low mountain range, the Spaargebirge. Its striking edge is the Boselspitze, which can be climbed on foot. A fantastic view towards Dresden awaits here. Below the Spaargebirge is the village of Sörnewitz, which has a number of wineries offering refreshment stops directly on the Elbe cycle path.

The tour then follows the Elbe cycle path towards Meißen. More wineries and their terraced vineyards line the path on the right-hand side, shortly before you can already see the striking towers of Meissen Cathedral. After crossing the Elbe, the tour finally ends in the historic old town of Meissen with its numerous sights such as Meissen Albrechtsburg Castle, Meissen Cathedral, the MEISSEN World of Experience as Europe's first porcelain manufactory, the town museum and the Frauenkirche church.

The bus stop for the M bus line at Roßmarkt is also located here in Meissen's old town. The bus line can be used for the return journey to Moritzburg, depending on the capacity of the bus.
