Leisure cycling through Oberlößnitz: Experience nature, culture, and wine – picturesque vineyards, historical highlights, and Saxon traditions on a varied route
The route starts at the popular Elbe Cycle Route and leads you via Weintraubenstraße to Radebeul Youth Hostel and Lößnitz Stadium. From there it continues to the Saxon State Theaters, a cultural highlight of the region.
Cycle into the idyllic Oberlößnitz with its historic vintner houses and vineyards. A special stop awaits you at the Hoflößnitz Winery, which offers fascinating insights into the history of Saxon viticulture with a wine museum. Those who are not afraid of a small challenge can climb the Spitzhaus Steps on foot in between. Once at the top, you will be rewarded with the view from the Bismarck Tower and a visit to the Spitzhaus Restaurant.
From Hoßlößnitz, the route continues along Weinbergstraße, probably Radebeul’s most beautiful street. Here you pass the renowned wineries Aust, Retzschgut, and Drei Herren. A tasting of regional wines directly with the winemaker is a must here! The view of the vineyards, the Spitzhaus, and the Stone Snail – a historic mountain lookout – remains unforgettable.
The route passes charming Ziller houses to Eduard-Bilz-Platz with the modern Nymph Fountain. Afterwards, you reach the Luther Church, an impressive example of neo-Renaissance architecture with a history dating back to 1891.
Another highlight is the Karl May Museum, which offers fascinating insights into the life and work of the world-famous writer. The Villa Shatterhand, his preserved residence, invites you to experience the adventures of the Wild West up close.
To finish, enjoy the relaxed ride back along the Elbe Cycle Route, where the route ends with breathtaking views of the Elbe meadows.
