The drinking water nature trail between the Lehnmühle and Klingenberg dams combines an experience of nature, exciting history and fascinating insights into the world of water. Along the varied trail, 16 modern information boards invite you to rediscover the precious resource of drinking water and the geological features of the Eastern Ore Mountains.
The route, which was extensively renovated in 2022, was created as a joint project of the Landschaftspflegeverband Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge e.V., the Saxony Reservoir Administration and the GEOPARK Sachsens Mitte e.V. Visitors learn interesting facts about the two reservoirs, their catchment area and the complex management and supply of clean drinking water. Historical pictures and fascinating facts bring the development of the facilities to life.
In addition, the GEOPARK provides interesting geological background information at each station and shows how closely water and rock are connected. This makes the nature trail a varied hike for nature lovers, families and anyone who wants to discover the landscape of the Eastern Ore Mountains with new eyes.
