This varied circular tour starts on the Elbe cycle path and leads through idyllic villages, vineyards and viewpoints through the Nassau countryside and the Friedewald forest. It offers additional adventure potential with detours, e.g. to the Boselspitze, the gondola pond at the Buschmühle or the Oberau forest pool.
The starting point of this cycle tour is located directly on the Elbe Cycle Path and is ideal for making a detour to the north of the region. The Boselspitze towers right at the start - it is part of Saxony's smallest mountain range, the Spaargebirge. After a short walk at an altitude of almost 200 meters, you have a spectacular view over the Elbe Valley and can taste local wine in the Boselspitze inn next to the botanical garden. Such a wine tasting is also worthwhile in the first town to be crossed on the tour: Sörnewitz. The Henke and Schuh wineries invite you to stop off here.
On the onward journey, you leave the mountains to the left and cycle through the Nassau landscape - once a wetland area on the Elbe, today a landscape conservation area. The route follows wide paths across fields along a ditch landscape. If you feel like it, turn off here in the direction of Weinböhla. It is worth visiting the Velocium there - the Saxon bicycle adventure world with an interactive exhibition about bicycles and a historical workshop.
The route continues north to Niederau and Oberau. Oberau moated castle is located directly on the route. The Buschmühle, which follows a little later, is also worth a stopover - there is a gondola pond in the outdoor area where you can paddle around a pirate ship.
For even more cooling off in summer, stop off at the Oberau forest pool, just a few meters from the cycle path. The rest of the route also offers cool paths, as you cycle through the large forest area, the Friedewald, until you reach the town of Coswig. You cross the town and rejoin the Elbe cycle path, which leads through the small village of Brockwitz. You then cycle along the Elbe back to the starting point near Sörnewitz.
