This tour is also recommended in reverse order.
At Freital-Cossmanndorf station, we follow the road past the "Weißeritzpark" and the "Hains" leisure centre until it turns into a cycle path and footpath, past an allotment and cross the Rote Weißeritz for the first time. After the bridge, follow the wide hiking trail to the left through the Rabenauer Grund to the Rabenauer Mühle. Here, at the "Zum Wanderer" pub, you can take a break to enjoy nature and the hearty snacks on offer. At Rabenau railway station, we cross the Rote Weißeritz to the left a second time and follow the direction of the large wooden ditch and the raven tracks on the pavement on Bahnhofstraße a little way towards the town. After a few steps, we see the entrance portal to the "Sagenhafter Mühlberg" adventure trail with the colourful chair family and follow it half left. The path winds its way steeply uphill and offers many natural resting and exercise opportunities, information boards on the surroundings and a "remember-what" picture memory at the large XXL lazy sofa. At the trail's exit portal, we recommend walking straight along Weststraße until you reach Hauptstraße, then turn right onto Freitaler Straße. Passing the stone market with the chair fountain and the green market with the restored post office column and the church, the façade of the German Chair Museum greets you with a chair in the bend.
You can return the same way through the Grund or via the Rabenauer Höhe (stop at the multi-generation playground at Obernaundorfer Str. 5-7 and take a break at Hotel & Restaurant "Rabennest" on Nordstraße) and the scenic Eckersdorfer Weg. You reach this path by following Freitaler Straße uphill from the market until you reach the main road. At this junction, go straight on to Hainsberger Straße, which becomes Eckersdorfer Fußweg. From here you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Döhlen basin and the Schweinsdorf Alps on a clear day. Follow the Eckersdorfer Weg until you reach the main road again and follow the footpath along the road past the Rollmopsschänke to the zebra crossing. There, turn onto the footpath "An der Kleinbahn" and follow it downhill until you arrive back at the Coßmannsdorf stop.
If you don't want to walk back, we recommend a short walk along the "Legendary Mühlberg" adventure trail back to Rabenau station and then the return journey on the steaming Weißeritztalbahn - an experience for young and old.
The RVSOE line 348+ bus takes tired feet directly from Markt Rabenau in the direction of Freital back to the Weißeritzpark.
