This hiking trail was created in 2017 as a project by the Hainsberg, Somsdorf, Coßmannsdorf stakeholder group. Residents, guests and visitors to Freital can explore the district of Hainsberg and its surroundings on a varied tour and learn lots of interesting facts along the way.
The trail leads past historic buildings such as the former Hainsberg town hall, the Mehnert mill, the roller mill, the Hoffnungskirche church and interesting places such as the Iron Cross, the Rabenauer Grund or the Heilsberg estate.
The themed trail also offers opportunities for integration into lessons, for example in geography, computer science, biology and history. On the one hand, pupils can learn a lot of interesting facts about special plants, animals, buildings and the like and also interact with them. Some points are equipped with a QR code. Explanations can therefore be downloaded directly onto a smartphone. The hiking trail is also suitable for project days.
As part of the animal tracks project set up for this purpose, schoolchildren create life-size images of tracks and traces of native animals on two sections of the hiking trail under the supervision of the Dog Wilderness School, which can then be explored while hiking.
