A varied route always along the Ketzerbach, combining natural experiences and cultural highlights of the region, as well as leading to a scenic viewpoint.
The Ketzerbachtalweg starts in the town of Nossen and leads through the picturesque Ketzerbachtal to Leuben. Right from the beginning of the route, the impressive Pöppelmann Bridge, originally built in 1715 and located below Nossen Castle whose origins date back to a castle from the 12th century, is visible. After crossing the bridge over the Freiberger Mulde, you will find the traditional Volksbad on the left, which offers a welcome refreshment in summer.
Continuing on, you leave the town and dive into the quiet landscape of the Ketzerbachtal. In Radewitz, a detour to Radewitzer Höhe is worthwhile. After a short climb, you are rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view over the Elbland. You can also visit the monumental tomb of a local farming family, which provides an interesting insight into the regional history.
The route continues to Raußlitz, known for its church and the former knight’s manor with the charming manor house. These historic buildings invite you for a short rest and exploration.
In Ziegenhain, a visit to the historic fortified church is recommended. Further along, the route passes Graupziger Niedermühle and the impressive 300-year-old oak in the forest directly by the Ketzerbach.
Afterwards, the tour leads to the endpoint in Leuben. Right at the beginning of the town, another highlight awaits – the Lokalbahnhof. Here, the locals have brought the old station back to life together and regularly host events and concerts, including a former steam locomotive in the garden which evokes nostalgic feelings and offers a great photo opportunity. The Marienkirche Leuben can be visited here, and the approximately 2 km distant Schloss Schleinitz is also worth a visit.
