A route from the Elbe Cycle Path north of Meissen over small streets, field, and forest paths directly to the famous hunting castle in Moritzburg.
A relaxed route that either runs from the Elbe Cycle Path in Kleinzadel, a few kilometers north of Meissen, to Moritzburg, but can also be ridden in the opposite direction.
The route starts in Kleinzadel and leads east over small streets that always offer views of the adjacent fields on the right and left. A small detour for a culinary break including a tasting of a Saxon wine can be made on weekends at Bella Vista in the Winzerhof Golk (Herrenberg vineyard).
Afterwards, field paths allow a low-traffic continuation via Naundörfel and Ockrilla, past the Oberau Tunnel Monument. It is also worth stopping in the park at the Oberau Water Castle. For refreshment in summer, a jump into the cool water at the Oberau forest pool is refreshing. The tour also remains exciting for young cyclists: at the following Buschmühle, not only is a snack possible, but also a boat tour on the idyllic gondola pond around a pirate ship invites for a break (from Easter to the 1st Advent).
It stays cool thanks to the further journey through the scenic Friedewald forest, offering peaceful paths towards Moritzburg. Once arrived, the sights invite further discoveries – the famous Baroque castle and the Käthe Kollwitz House are recommended stops before the route ends in the center of Moritzburg.
