The start of the circular route is the favorite bridge of the people of Dresden, the Blue Wonder! Along the Elbe Cycle Route and Pillnitzer Landstraße, it goes to the southeast of the city. We pass horse paddocks, beautiful meadows, lovingly renovated half-timbered houses and finally arrive in the famous district of Pillnitz. At the Pillnitz town hall, it is worth briefly parking the bike and climbing the slope via Wünschendorfer Straße. At Leitenweg we stand directly above the vineyards and have a fantastic view of the district. Those who take the time can hike along Leitenweg and back, enjoy the wonderful view, and with a bit of luck, the Besenwirtschaften at the Pillnitz Royal Vineyard are even open.
Back on the bike, our route first continues along Pillnitzer Landstraße until after a few minutes we turn right onto Berweg directly to the beautiful vineyard church "Zum Heiligen Geist". On the further ride below the vineyards, you can nicely watch the vintners at work. We follow the mountain path further to Rysselkuppe. There, the Zimmerling winery invites us to take a break. They offer great wines, and their selection of cakes is also a tip.
The route finally leads over Graupa, past the Richard Wagner sites and the hunting lodge, down Graupaer Straße to the Elbe. Here, you take the ferry (Birkwitz) to cross the Elbe. On the other side (Heidenau), the route follows the Elbe Cycle Route back towards the Dresden city center. We see the famous Pillnitz Castle from afar and continue riding with a view of the Dresden TV tower until we arrive back at the Blue Wonder.
