The Torgau Museum Trail offers the opportunity to enter selected historic buildings and experience history up close.
The City and Cultural History Museum in the former Electoral Chancellery, Wintergrüne 5, houses treasures such as the altarpiece of St. Nicholas from the Cranach workshop. The Bürgermeister-Ringenhain House displays unique testimonies of the living culture of wealthy Torgau citizens around 1600, while the small historic craftsmen's house lets you imagine how hard and austere life was for the poorer people. In Wolff-Giersing's Brew House, you will find, besides the impressive cellar facilities, an interesting exhibition on Torgau's brewing tradition. The Katharina Luther Room is the only memorial for the wife of the famous reformer. An exhibition about the life and work of his friend Johann Walter is presented in the Priest's House of Georg Spalatin, one of the oldest houses in Torgau. The Lapidarium in the castle presents original sandstone works by the masters of the 16th century.
