Since the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017, the exhibition has presented the importance of Torgau in its function as the main and secondary residence of the Electors of Saxony in the 16th and early 17th centuries.
Although Torgau lost its status as the main residence of the Wettins when the electorate passed from the Ernestines to the Albertines, it remained the preferred secondary residence for state diets and weddings.
The exhibition marks a further highlight in the long-standing cooperation between the district and town of Torgau and the Dresden State Art Collections.
