Freital-Hainsberg station (Weißeritztalbahn)

At a glance

Technical and architectural monument. The station is located on the "Saxony-Franconia-Magistrale" Dresden-Nuremberg. From here the Weißeritztalbahn branches off to Kipsdorf.

In 1874 the station got its first reception building. At that time, the more important station in today's Freital area was Potschappel station, which had the most connections to the coal mines. Only the opening of the Weißeritztalbahn in 1883 brought a significant increase in transport services at the station. The trackage was expanded and included seven standard gauge and four narrow gauge tracks. A four-stand locomotive shed of the narrow-gauge railroad was located in the eastern station field. The station never had a standard gauge locomotive shed.

Today, trains of the S-Bahn S3 (Dresden-Tharandt) and the regional train Dresden-Zwickau stop at Hainsberg.
