Attention! The Gohrischheide is currently not passable due to the extensive forest fire and the fire-fighting work. The cycle routes Gohrischheiderundweg, Röderradroute, Kirchenradweg and Lustlagerrundweg are therefore not usable in the Gohrischheide area! We will inform you when the danger is over.

A journey back to the year 1730! Over 35 km, the tour follows the "spectacle of the century" in 11 stations - the baroque troop show of the Zeithain pleasure camp.

The route is a 35-kilometre circular route that leads through the historical sites of the so-called "Zeithainer Lustlager" of 1730. This baroque troop display under Augustus the Strong, known as the "Spectacle of the Century", served to demonstrate military strength and offered guests numerous attractions.

The tour starts at the obelisk in Zeithain and runs through the villages of Heidehäuser, Tiefenau, Wülknitz, Streumen, Glaubitz, Grödel, Promnitz and Röderau. Along the way, 11 stations with information boards invite you to learn more about the historic camp that once drew thousands of soldiers and many European princes to the region. Sights worth seeing along the route include the obelisk in Zeithain and the castle church in Tiefenau, which impresses with a Silbermann organ and a rose garden. Other highlights include the obelisk near Streumen and the manor house in Promnitz, which offers an insight into the Baroque splendor of the time.

Those interested in history also have the opportunity to visit the Ehrenhain Zeithain memorial. The information and educational site commemorates the victims of the Wehrmacht prisoner-of-war camp in Zeithain near Riesa between 1941 and 1945.

But the natural paths along the Gohrischheide nature reserve, a detour to the Glaubitz forest swimming pool or the Saxon Fire Brigade Museum also make the tour worth experiencing.

With a mixture of historical monuments, picturesque landscapes and memories of the "Zeithainer Lustlager", the route is an experience for those interested in culture and history.

More details about the route and maps can be found on the Elbe-Röder-Dreieck website or on the Zeithainer Lustlager website.
