Elbe cycle path between Dresden and Meißen with nostalgic bicycle museum

A particularly beautiful section of the Elbe cycle path is the one between Dresden and Meißen. For families, it is a good idea to combine the cycle tour with a detour to Weinböhla. There, the small but beautiful VELOCIUM bicycle museum tells the history of cycling in a charming way and also invites you to get some exercise, for example on the pump track, a closed circuit with waves, steep bends and jumps. One of the museum's rarities is a fully equipped, original bicycle workshop from the 1920s with machines, tools and a sales counter. https://velocium-weinboehla.de/" href="https://velocium-weinboehla.de/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; colour: var(--clr_t1_schwarz); -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(166, 146, 26, 0.1) !important;">velocium-weinboehla.de

Richard Strauss Days at the Semperoper 2023

Over the Easter holidays, the Semperoper Dresden will resume the tradition of a series of events dedicated to the composer Richard Strauss: the Richard Strauss Days from 2 to 16 April 2023. Strauss cultivated an intensive artistic and creative relationship with Dresden, with the Staatskapelle, the Dresden Opera House and its music directors. Nine of his 15 operatic works were premiered in Dresden, including "Arabella" and "Der Rosenkavalier". Both operas can be experienced with a top-class cast at the Richard Strauss Days. semperoper.de/richard-strauss-tage

Pirna: Decelerated historical enjoyment

A stroll through Pirna's old town, for example on the well-signposted Canaletto Trail, can be a day-filling programme that we definitely recommend. There are many exciting historical details to discover in the beautifully renovated old town, and numerous eateries at the market invite you to enjoy regional delicacies, such as the Café Canaletto with its stunning soft ice cream variations and a view of the old town, which inspired its namesake Bernardo Bellotto, known as Canaletto, to create his famous painting "The Market Square of Pirna" 270 years ago. The original can be seen in the Old Masters Picture Gallery in Dresden  www.canaletto-pirna.dewww.pirna.de

Seeing historical Dresden through VR glasses

Visitors to Dresden can see history in a completely different way through VR glasses in several places. The 3D experience museum "Zwinger Xperience" tells the story of the Dresden Zwinger since 1719 in panoramic projections and at a virtual reality station, while the multimedia experience "Fortress Xperience" presents the history of Dresden's city fortifications virtually and acoustically. Our tip: Take advantage of the combined ticket for Fortress Xperience and Zwinger Xperience. www.zwinger-xperience.dewww.festung-xperience.de.

One Eierschecke please. The real Dresden "Osterkuchen"

When it comes to the question of where to find the best Dresdner Eierschecke, opinions in Dresden are divided. Everyone swears by their favourite. The regional cake with the particularly fluffy topping of beaten eggs should definitely be tried, preferably at a different bakery every day. The Eierschecke from Dresdner Kaffeestübchen, not far from Dresden's Frauenkirche, is particularly sweet. Feel free to let us know which Eierschecke you have discovered for yourself at info@marketing.dresden.de.
