The Saxon State Foundation for Nature and the Environment maintains an organic vineyard at a historic location on Meissen Castle Hill. Under the guidance of the Hoflößnitz Foundation, it is cultivated organically by pupils from the Landesgymnasium St. Afra.
The division of the vineyard into terraces, supported by dry stone walls, leads to vineyards that are linked to the development of a variety of special vineyard biotopes through ecological cultivation.
The vineyard is available for environmental education and is open on certain occasions. The Meissen tourist information office offers guided tours of the vineyard. Excursions, e.g. for schools, can be booked individually through the foundation.
The vineyard is located below the "Amtsstufen" on Meissen Castle Hill. A circular route around the castle hill also leads past the vineyard. From here you can get a good view of it and find out more about the project.
