Living winemaking tradition on the Meissen Kapitelberg
The Vincenz Richter winery was founded in 1873 by Vincenz Anton Richter and looks back on a long tradition of winegrowing in Saxony. Nestled in the historic cultural landscape of the Meissen Kapitelberg, the family winery combines centuries of history with state-of-the-art wine technology. The heart of the winery beats in the listed half-timbered house dating back to 1653. Directly above it, a state-of-the-art, fully air-conditioned production line was built in 2009. It enables continuous processing "from the grape to the bottle" - under optimum conditions for quality and varietal typicity. The modern glass building, which dominates the winery above ground, conceals extensive underground cellars with stainless steel tanks, traditional wooden barrels and its own bottling plant. The Vincenz Richter winery combines a living winemaking tradition in the Spaargebirge with the highest oenological standards. Using modern technology and innovative biotechnological processes, wines of the highest quality are produced here - authentically bottled in the characteristic Sachsenkeule.
The best Pinot Noir in Germany comes from Saxony
In 2024, the winery was named "Discovery of the Year" by VINUM magazine. The estate's own 2019 Pinot Noir PINO NOIR* from Kapitelberg received 94 points, the highest award for a Saxon red wine since the awards began - a milestone for Saxon red wine cultivation. Since being honored with the German Red Wine Award in the Pinot Noir Vintage category, public interest in the wines has been great; after all, it confirms the philosophy and uncompromising quality standards of the winery.
