Dresden receives "Ladeport Award 2023"

Award recognises strong commitment to e-mobility in tourism in Dresden Elbland

Dresden recognised the opportunities and challenges of electromobility for the Dresden Elbland destination at an early stage and has now been awarded a nationwide prize, the "Ladeport Award 2023" by Berlin-Brandenburg Electric e.V.

Dresden Marketing GmbH (DMG) accepted the award on behalf of the Dresden e-mobility network. "Being honoured with the Ladeport Award 2023 confirms our approach of viewing and living electric mobility as a real opportunity for tourism. When visiting Dresden Elbland, guests receive not only a good charging infrastructure, but also strong expertise in the topic and the e-mobility experience on top," says Corinne Miseer, Managing Director of DMG, Dresden's official destination management organisation.

The importance of a good charging infrastructure for the tourist success of a travel destination is now evident. This is because guests no longer just expect the hotel's own charging station, they expect it to be easy to use and available. The economic development agency of the state capital of Dresden has created a good basis for satisfied tourists with the early and rapid development of charging infrastructure in the city area. This has made it possible to reach the target of 400 charging points in Dresden as early as 2022, three years earlier than planned.

In a further step, DMG was able to sensitise the hotel industry in Dresden and the Elbland region to electromobility comparatively early on thanks to the studies carried out together with Volkswagen's Gläserne Manufaktur. Many hotels now have their own charging points and are planning further investments. Dehoga Sachsen and Volkswagen's Gläserne Manufaktur have also developed a training programme for hotel employees to become certified e-experts.

The Bilderberg Bellevue Hotel Dresden has been involved in the project from the very beginning and sees electromobility as part of its sustainability campaign. "We can now provide our guests with a total of four charging points, have had two employees trained as e-experts and are also helping to promote the topic in terms of communication. The Charging Port Award 2023 is a great motivation for all of us in Dresden Elbland for our e-mobility offensive. We are already looking forward to the next steps, together with Dresden Marketing GmbH and all our partners," says Sebastian Klink, General Manager Bilderberg Bellevue Hotel Dresden and 1st Deputy Chairman Tourismusverband Dresden e.V.
