Dresden Elbland Discovery Weekend on 11 and 12 April 2026

Understanding tourism and making the most of it

Dresden, 8 April 2026. This is a one-off event: numerous organisers have put together exclusive offers especially for the Dresden Elbland Discovery Weekend on 11 and 12 April. These include a discovery tour of Albrechtsburg Castle in Meissen, which offers not only fascinating insights but also a glass of local wine. Marcel Beier, a passionate tour guide, café owner and independent winegrower, has also designed a tour especially for the weekend entitled ‘Experience Saxony’s Wines & Cuisine First-Hand’, which he will personally lead on both days at 11 am.

The event is organised by Dresden Marketing GmbH (DMG) and the Elbland Dresden Tourism Association (TVED), in collaboration with numerous partners. The event has been running in this format since 2025. The success of last year’s event is reflected in the scope and variety of this year’s programme: Visitors can choose from more than 90 activities in the city and the region. Over half of these take place in the Elbland region, in Diesbar-Seußlitz, Großenhain, Meissen, Moritzburg, Radebeul, Radeberg, Torgau and Weinböhla.

The Dresden Elbland Discovery Weekend has a clear objective: ‘Tourism is all the more successful the more the local residents support it. The Dresden Elbland Discovery Weekend fosters a better understanding of tourism by offering a behind-the-scenes look at the industry whilst also bringing to life the diverse range of cultural, gastronomic, accommodation, as well as the leisure and activity sectors – which our guests from both home and abroad also appreciate,” says Corinne Miseer, Managing Director of Dresden Marketing GmbH.

The Discovery Weekend is also attractive from a financial point of view: Many providers are offering discounts or free deals, such as the Dresden Ullersdorf Golf Course with mini-golf at the Adventure Park – two tickets for the price of one – or the Staatsoperette Dresden with a 25 per cent discount on ‘My Fair Lady’ on Saturday and Sunday. Adults can travel on the Lößnitzgrundbahn and the Weißeritztalbahn throughout the weekend at a reduced fare equivalent to the child’s fare, whilst children travel free of charge.

“It’s worth taking a look at the programme in advance to plan your weekend and register or book tickets in good time. We’re delighted by the huge interest in offers such as the nature walk around Moritzburg, ‘losgedackelt’, or guided tours of the Dorint Parkhotel or the Romantik Hotel Burgkeller in Meissen,” says Sindy Vogel, Managing Director of the Elbland Dresden Tourism Association.

Running alongside the Discovery Weekend, the European Days of Arts and Crafts from 10 to 12 April 2026 invite visitors to explore creative working environments. Numerous workshops, studios and museums will open their doors, offering insights into both traditional and contemporary crafts. As early as Friday 10 April, the VVO Discovery Day offers the chance to explore the entire transport network flexibly and in an environmentally friendly way: With the Family Day Ticket, the entire fare zone of the Oberelbe Transport Association can be used on this day – an ideal opportunity to discover the region comfortably and without a car.

Some of the activities are subject to availability and can only be booked by registering in advance. The full programme and all further information can be found at www.visit-dresden-elbland.de/entdeckerwochenende.
