At the local regional final of the international FameLab competition, nine early-career researchers presented complex scientific topics in a way that was accessible to a general audience, within a maximum of three minutes. Artem Govorukhin from the Helmholtz Centre Dresden-Rossendorf impressed both the expert jury and the audience of over 130 guests. Together with runner-up Urša Uršič, he will now represent Saxony’s research community at the German final in Bielefeld.

Dresden, 8 April 2026. This is a one-off event: numerous partners have put together exclusive offers especially for the Dresden Elbland Discovery Weekend on 11 and 12 April.

Dresden is dedicating the year 2026 entirely to Carl Maria von Weber. To mark the 200th anniversary of the composer’s death on 5 June 2026, the state capital, together with numerous cultural institutions, is paying tribute to the life, work and lasting influence of one of the most significant figures of German Romanticism.
