Where fine wines are grown

Mediterranean lightness meets Saxon hospitality

Stretching for around 90 kilometres, the Saxon Wine Trail links historic castles, steep vineyard slopes and fine Saxon wines. Six day stages lead from Pirna via Dresden and Radebeul to Diesbar-Seußlitz. Anyone walking the Saxon Wine Trail will soon realise that time takes on a different meaning here. After all, wine has been grown in the region for over 800 years. So there is absolutely no need to rush.

You’ll walk past stately villas and world-famous landmarks such as Pillnitz Palace or Wackerbarth Palace. In between, small, quaint wine taverns open their doors for a well-deserved break. A good glass of Pinot Gris right on the hillside tastes best of all after a climb up the Spaar Mountains. And as you gaze out over the Elbe Valley, you can simply let your mind wander.
