Aurora-Erbstolln

The Aurora Erbstolln is a disused silver mine and, as a show mine, offers those interested the opportunity to follow the traces of mining.
The mine is the only walk-in silver mine on the Silver Road between Freiberg and Dresden and is located in the valley of the Wilde Weißeritz near Dorfhain. It is a small mine workings whose claim dates back to the beginning of the 16th century. Since April 1998 the Aurora Erbstolln has been operated as a small show mine. As the highlight of a four-kilometre mining educational trail, the mine invites you to an exciting underground adventure. Equipped with a protective cape, helmet and lamp, visitors learn on an exciting 35-minute guided tour through the rocky world how mining was once carried out. The voyage of discovery can be undertaken with children from as young as 6 years.
Among other things, the mine contains original working tools from 1580 to the present day, as well as roof and side workings in which silver-bearing lead and copper ore, but also barite and fluorite, were mined. In addition, changing special exhibitions take place. There are pictures here.
