From 24 November to 30 December 2026, the scents of Advent will blend with a Baroque setting and light art on Pirna’s market square. The Canaletto Market is just the thing for anyone who loves the Christmas spirit but wants to avoid the crowds.

The Canaletto Market transforms Pirna’s market square into a Christmas stage. All around the town hall, there are stalls selling crafts, treats and little gift ideas. In the evening, the old town really comes into its own: the façades are lit up, the town hall is illuminated and the large Christmas tree makes quite an impression. The market is named after Canaletto, who once painted Pirna. So it’s a fitting name. Amidst Baroque houses, the scent of mulled wine and short distances to walk, it creates an Advent outing that doesn’t need to be loud to leave a lasting impression.

The Canaletto Market 2026 is open from 24 November to 23 December and from 27 December to 30 December. It’s open from 11 am to 7 pm Monday to Thursday, from 11 am to 9 pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 11 am to 8 pm on Sunday. The market is closed from 24 December to 26 December.
