Medieval Christmas

Medieval Christmas

Medieval Christmas market in Dresden’s Stallhof, right in the heart of the Old Town. The market features live music, jugglers, crafts, historical goods and around 50 stallholders. No plastic hustle and bustle – just fire, wood, music and a bit of market banter.

The Medieval Christmas Market at Dresden’s Stallhof does things quite differently from the large markets in the surrounding area. Between the Royal Palace and the Old Town, stallholders, craftspeople, jugglers and musicians are packed closely together. The air is filled with the scent of fire, wood and spices, and the goods on offer certainly don’t look like mass-produced items. The historic Stallhof suits the occasion like an old coat suits winter: not sleek, but rather cosy. Anyone who, after visiting the Striezelmarkt, is still in the mood for a different kind of Christmas atmosphere will quickly find themselves at the right gate here.

The Medieval Christmas takes place from 25 November to 23 December 2026, daily from 11:00 to 21:30. This is followed by the Rauhnächte: from 27 to 30 December 2026, also until 9.30 pm, from 2 to 5 January 2027 until 8.00 pm, and on 6 January 2027 until 6.00 pm.

Getting there

The market is situated in the Stallhof at Dresden’s Royal Palace, right in the Old Town. Take the tram to a stop near Schlossstraße and it’s just a few minutes’ walk from there. If you’re coming by car, it’s best to use one of the multi-storey car parks in the city centre, as finding a free space here is rather a matter of luck.
