New Synagogue, Dresden

New Synagogue, Dresden

The New Synagogue in Dresden is a striking example of modern architecture and living history.

Inaugurated in 2001 on the historic site of the Semper Synagogue, which was destroyed in 1938, the striking, twisted building designed by the architectural firm Wandel Hoefer Lorch makes a powerful statement in the cityscape. Whilst the exterior captivates with its monolithic structure, the interior invites reflection. The synagogue serves as a spiritual centre for the Jewish community. Visitors can experience the rich history and architectural features of this spiritual place, particularly through organised guided tours and cultural events.
