Circular route from Hainsberg via the Somsdorfer gorge to Tharandt

In Tharandt, a walk around the town with a visit to the castle ruins or the forest botanical garden is worthwhile.

from Dresden via Tharandter Straße to Freital, through Freital via Dresdner Straße/Rabenauer Straße/Hainsberger Straße to Weißeritzpark

from the Dresden-Gorbitz motorway exit (A17) to Freital via Kesselsdorfer/Wilsdruffer Straße to Dresdner Straße, turn right, then as above

From Wilsdruff via Grumbach and Tharandt to the entrance to Freital, then right via Somsdorfer Straße/Hainsberger Straße to Weißeritzpark

large free parking lot at Weißeritzpark above the railway tracks of the Weißeritztalbahn (approx. 500 spaces)

• by the Weißeritztalbahn to the Coßmannsdorf stop


• by S-Bahn line 3 (Dresden-Tharandt) to the Freital-Hainsberg West stop

Sturdy footwear and surefootedness are required.

The path through the Somsdorfer gorge is relatively steep. Iron stairs and chains for holding on make the ascent easier.
