The scent of mulled wine, glowing Herrnhut stars and traditional craftsmanship: discover Germany’s oldest Christmas market in the heart of Dresden’s Altmarkt.
A magical Christmas season in Dresden Elbland
When the scent of roasted almonds, mulled wine and authentic Dresden Christmas stollen wafts through the streets, Dresden Elbland reveals its most enchanting side.
Germany’s oldest Christmas market on the Altmarkt is just as inviting a place to stroll as the bustling market in the Electoral Stallhof or the relaxed Advent evenings at the wineries in the Elbe Valley. Festive organ music in the churches, steaming mulled wine from the winegrowers’ stalls by open fire pits and masterful craftsmanship from the surrounding countryside make the weeks leading up to Christmas here truly unique.
Take time to explore the region’s attractions – both large and small – and discover your very own favourite spots amidst the castle backdrops and meadows along the Elbe.

Our travel package combines the concert ticket with one or two nights’ accommodation including breakfast.
During the day there is plenty of time for Dresden’s winter beauty. Stroll across the Striezelmarkt or join a guided city walk. Past the Semperoper, the Zwinger and the Frauenkirche, the route leads on to three more markets, rounded off with a taste of stollen and hot mulled wine.
