Semperoper Dresden
Experience first-class opera, ballet and concert performances in one of the most renowned venues in the world.
The Semperoper Dresden is one of the most famous and imposing opera houses in the world and an architectural landmark of the city. The building was designed by Gottfried Semper and opened in 1841. Unfortunately, the building was destroyed by fire as early as 1869. The Semper Opera House as we know it today was finally opened in its current form in 1878. For over 470 years, the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden has performed here, achieving world fame with numerous world premieres of works by Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss. The impressive architecture and high artistic standards make the Semper Opera one of the most important cultural centres in Europe and an indispensable part of the international opera scene.
